Backhoe Backhoe hose couplers won't mate

I had the same problem with my New Holland 758C on a TC45DA. I was told it goes on and off in a few minutes. I found after it was off that the line to the BH was too short. I could only connect it if it was already in all the slots with the pins in place. Since I could not articulate the hoe without pressure I was having problems. I purchased a line extra long so I could connect pressure lines and line it up with the slots and back into it. When I went to connect it I found that the connectors would not go together. I had too much pressure in the line. I took a 4 x 4 in one hand and the hose with the male nipple in the other hand and drove it into the 4x4. A squirt of oil later it would all connect. The base of the backhoe must be supported on something also or every time you depressurize the line it will re-presurize as the hoe drops down on the stabilizers. Don’t ask me how I know this. Paul

Pat; would an extension hose defeat overpressure? Sounds like a good fix. Female coupler on one end male on other right? Maybe a Bradco style depressure valve in there too or is that overkill?
Dave; I'll use a woden pallete under the body of the hoe every time now when I dismount. I had fewer troubles before when I did. Sort of a cheap dolly, no?

with a connecting hose you would be able to remove any pressure by using the levers on the hoe.

Well...I have to take issue with that statement; here's why. When you put the hose on the first time you use it, it will be empty. Oil from both the backhoe's hoses will go into the hose, but eventually with repeated use, the hose will be almost full from drainage. Now is where the problem starts.

When you attach the hose, both the normal pressure and return side hoses on the backhoe heat up in the sun and pressure in the lines shoots up. Pressure has nowhere to go because the hose is full of oil. Using the levers only equalizes pressure, it does not relieve it. When you disconnect the hose, it will be the same as disconnecting a quick attach on your tractor with the system pressurized. You might get hurt from high pressure liquid or the hose end being launched out the quick attach when released.

If you always drain the section of hose between uses, then it will work fine, but if it fills with excess fluid, you have a pressure lock situation again. See what I mean?

I'm thinking of ordering spare female couplers direct from NH. I'm wondering if I should upgrade all my 758C BH hoses to the next diameter size since the rubber already scuffed in several places with only 175 hours use. These spots could rupture any time and new replacement hoses of the same size probably wouldn't last long either. Is this possible or would I be prevented by valve manifold spacing? Any other fixes are appreciated.
