I cannot get my hoses to reconnect for the life of me. I’ve been pushing on them forever, I’m gonna sore as hell over this. What am I missing? I moved the joystick on the front loader to relieve pressure and I moved the joysticks on the backhoe to relieve pressure. Thanks.

I believe the system is presssurized due to temp change. When that happens to me, I put a PVC cap over the end of the hose and hit it with a hammer. The PVC protects the hose fitting and the cap helps prevent you from getting sprayed with the hydraulic oil.

You still have pressure someplace, either the male or female end.

Moving the joysticks on the BH when disconnected doesn't do anything because there's nowhere that the fluid can go (the FL valve drains to the tank; the BH is blocked by the connectors not allowing fluid flow).

Two solutions: 1, slightly unscrew one of the fittings on the BH's main hydraulic connection (which is currently not connected to the tractor but you want it to) so that some fluid can leak out. 2, you can push in the plunger in the male connector - difficult but possible, push it against a block of wood, possibly tap on the wood from behind against the connector to force it to bleed a bit.

This used to regularly happen to me, mostly because of settling with gravity. Can also happen if you disconnect in cool weather and try to reconnect in hot.

When I take the BH now I lower the main part of my BH (not the bucket but the part where I sit) onto big wood blocks so that gravity doesn't affect it any more.

If you disconnected it when the oil was cold and now it's sat in the sun and got warm, the oil has expanded and won't let the couplers release enough to connect.

If you have female ends on the back hoe, simplest solution with basic tools that won't damage anything is to take two wrenches and unscrew the couplers from the hoses, fluid will release and you can thread them back together.

Ken's Bolt On sells a hydraulic decompression tool. I haven't used it myself but it looks like a sound concept.

I am not affiliated with Ken or his site, but I have bought some stuff from him.

Unscrew one of the quick connects from it's hose to let the pressure out.

I made a couple devices with quick connects and a valve on a tee. I plug those in when I store my hydraulic attachments. Then when its time to use the attachment I can just let the pressure out with the valve, remove the device and connect to the tractor.

I thought this was an interesting solution. On my list for next HF trip.

I got it working. Was cooler out this morning and it hooked right in. Thank you.

Glad you got it working. Next time if it happens, read through this thread again.
