From looking at the gearbox drawings, Tat2z1969 appears to be correct. It looks like the pto shaft is driven by the upper shaft (which drives JM rear hyd pump). The pto speed selection apears to be done via sliding gears on the pto shaft. ie only the pto shaft would change speeds. I can not confirm engine speed rotation, but seems consistant with the small gear on the upper shaft driving the larger gear on the pto shaft. The drawings I reviewed were the older 3 bolt hole cover vs newer 4 bolt. Thanks Tat2z for dis-spelling my assumption.
