Backhoe Pivot Pin Issues

It should be a bolt through the outer ring and through the pin. Probably a grade 5 at least, maybe a grade 8. Was the pin replaced? It should be flush or just slightly past the "ring" that has the empty hole in it. There should be one on each side.
The snap type "linch pins" are very soft and will break easily.
Here is a pic of my BH pins.... if you zoom in, you can see the two bolts holding the pins in.

This area circled in red makes it look like a cotter pin. Those are very soft and I would not expect it to hold. Like was mentioned, you need a bolt. Preferably thru the original hole. If you don't have the equipment to accurately drill a hole in a rod, take it to a machine shop to do. I don't think it would be very expensive.

Yup a bolt should do the trick. If its a little
sloppy add a washer but use a bolt for sure!
Tractor supply has all kinds of pins that you
could use if you don't want to use a bolt and
if you are going to keep the clip in in the picture
use a washer.

If the bolt is being sheared off then my guess would be that the pin is bent or there is something out of alignment. Does the pin move back and forth with no load and slight tapping with a hammer? Perhaps try a new pin and see what happens.

I looked at my BH today, I said there were bolts on both sides.... wrong. One side has a flange on the pin, with the center grease zerk. Only one side has the bolts.

Seeing picture makes wonder about why the securing bolt/pin is not through collar/pin combo.... Logic tells me the way pin is supposedly locked in place is wrong, by what I see in picture... What does other side of bucket link/pin look like?
