Thanks guys, I sent in an email to my Kubota sales person I've been dealing with for years. I requested amongst other things, a price on a Woods subframe for my tractor. I'm trying to get ready for the sticker shock. If it's anything like the cost of the rear remotes, it'll sting pretty good I'm sure. I appreciate the information in the responses I'm getting on this thread. I have to make a decision soon to get it working, or the ground will be frozen and stored until next spring. Again, thanks guys...

I found out the Woods subframe is $1150.00, the 6GPM PTO kit is $875.00 and they can install a hydraulic loop for $250.00 to run the backhoe off the tractor hydraulics. At this point, I'm probably going with the rear hydraulic loop (still very tempted to spend the $750.00 (installed myself) rear remote kit) and just using my CAT 2 hitch. I'm not planning on using the hoe all that often. It's mainly just for digging hole to plant small trees and maybe some ditches for drainage.

I found out today that the rear remote ($850.00 installed) will have to be held open with a bungee cord to run the backhoe. The rear remote spool valve wasn't designed to lock in the open position. I'm supposed to drop the tractor off at some point this weekend to have the hydraulic loop installed ($250.00) on Monday.

A friend of mine has a L4330 and has to do the same thing when he uses his BH. I don't think it is too uncommon.

In my earlier post I thought that you were talking about a simple loop. I was wondering how that would cost $850. Anyway, I installed a power beyond kit (loop) on my tractor for my log splitter, but when I put on the backhoe I had to install a third connection that drained directly back to the oil sump for the return line.

Maybe I should get the full rear remote kit installed ($850.00). You never know when you'll need the spool valve to control something. The dealer is doing the work Monday. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gifGrrrr, decisions, decisions...

Had the dealer install the remote when buying the tractor for the BH and future use. About a year later I added an HTL and a dump trailer not to long after that. Having an HTL is just SO much more productive. I would never be with out one again.

Hi CTyler,
What's HTL stand for? Sounds like something I need...

Point of fact, the Kubota rear remotes are powered from the FEL power beyond port as is the 3PH.

I just picked the tractor up at the dealership. The new rear remotes are now installed for $800.00. They seem pretty slick. I'll post a picture or two if I can get my digital camera working.

In lieu of a bungee strap,I made up my own locking mech.

First picture was shown in the n/o position. This picture will show to operated position. To lock operated, just lift lock out of slot, operate lever forward, drop lock down into forward slot. You must release the locking position when the backhoe is removed.

Here's a little update...
The rear hydraulic remotes are installed, the backhoe is sitting in the driveway still. I started to try to cut off the homemade subframe last Sunday with a hand held grinder and a reciprocating saw. I finally gave up and figured I'd have a local welder come over and cut it off for me. Wednesday, I get an email from a friend asking if I'd like to do some backhoe work at some various locations. I was thinking before that I'd just cut the homemade subframe off and use it as a 3pt. hitch hoe and just be careful around my yard. Now, if I'm going to be doing it to make some money, I'll keep the subframe on and modify it to fit my tractor. Yesterday, I spent $400.00 + on a gas cutting torch set to help cut some steel and make some supports and custom mounting brackets. This is really turning into a bigger project than I thought it would be. I have a new arc welder I bought quite a while back that I never hooked up. I have to run a 220vac circuit from the cellar up to the garage to use it. At this rate, the ground will be frozen when the hoe is finally installed.

This may or may not apply to you.

When my BH is on the tractor the sway bars are disconnected. The 3pt arms are strapped together and held in a more/less level position. I use a wire to limit the up travel on the position lever in case it gets bumped etc.. Otherwise the arms would try to lift the subframe.

I noticed that when I looked at some subframes. They do use the lower link points for the 3pt. hitch for the subframe connecting points. I'd almost like to make a subframe that connects to different spots on the back of the tractor, so I don't have to touch the 3pt. hitch to put the backhoe on. I'm not sure I have the time to mess with it. I need it up and running soon. I'll probably pull off the 3pt. hitch parts and just customize the home made subframe to just get it up and running. I shouldn't need to run any 3pt. hitch stuff before the winter gets here.
