Just to cover all bases...are the hydraulic fluids full...is it due for a filter change...did you recently replace anything that could have allowed air into the system?

MarkV

Good thought. We think alike! :) No, none of the above. That was my first thought and I immediately got down off the tractor and checked everything. In fact, my first thought was that I had damaged a hose and I sure didn't want to ignore a $20 dollar hose or $200 dollars worth of fluid and end up with fluid starvation or entrained air causing damage to an expensive hydraulic pump.

As for the age of the filters and fluids, I just changed the hydraulic fluids and filters about 40 hours ago. In fact, I've now changed fluids and filters twice inside of 100 hours! That's because I got to experimenting and changed over to Kubota SUDT hyd. oil at the 250 hour service and then didn't care for the way it worked. So with less than 50 hours on that oil I went back to what my Kubota dealer uses: New Holland Multi-G 134. And new filters yet again!

I've always looked at the oil with interest. Now I think I might pull a sample every 100 hours or so and let it set in a beaker to see if it has any particulates. I can't see any, but who knows?
Thanks, rScotty

Hello All, .. I just had this Problem with my woods bh90-x. I must Share My Answer to the Problem.. the problem is /was rubber item 1/2 mm wide 3 mm long stuck inside the l/r relief valve... cleaned both replaced in the same spot. Now I didn't have to do a swap to see on it boom right, not left ( to verify bad valve ) b/c I found the rubber piece, I felt just install, prime her and go... So it was and it is.. It all works and I feel when I do an oil change and cut the hyd. filter I hope I will see the rest of the rubber seal parts. Granted I don't know what rubber came from. I have ordered a new valve for stock,or replacement time shall tell. I just purchased the kioti dx45. working the thing and tweaking the problems out as they try to stop me..Be Well

This obviously is my first post on this site but I have been looking at info on here for well over a year or more. Just wanted to say I really enjoy the site & have got alot of good info from it.

Anyway I was doing research about a problem I was having & came across this thread last night & this was EXACTLY what I was experiancing! I had already messed with the flow diverter levers hoping that would fix the problem but no such luck. After reading this thread thought I'd try what rScotty did & you know what it worked! At first was just working the swing to the right & letting gravity bring it back at around 1500 rpm. Messsed with it a bit but couldn't get left hand power back. So I kicked it up to 2500 & gave her a few quick left/right joystick motions & like magic LH swing power was back! Just as on his, there was no sound or shuddering.

Deffinately a strange experiance to say the least. To me I'd think it would of been a control valve problem but I guess a check or safty valve could of done it as well. As for the machine it is a 2009(bought new late 2010) with just under 200 hrs. It has lived a relatively easy life but has done a little trenching & has assisted on 5+ house demos.

Overall very happy with the machine but even after ALOT of searching was still pricy at 50k+. Only other problem was what some other owners have had & that was a boom clyinder that was VERY slow to retract at the end of travel. First 130(approx) hrs it worked as designed with the cushion at the extreme end of travel but then it got to be at least a minute at 2200 to get the hoe to the home position. Unacceptable so pulled the cyl off & took it to a local hyd shop(was out of warrenty). Told them to check it out & remove the "needle cushion" altogether. Bam $600 later with new seals, works WAY better than new.

OK that's enough off topic stuff for this post. As said a **** of a machine when its working.

i am in the worried stage of this problem right now with my L45, i experienced this the first time about a week ago, kicked the rpm up to 2k and she worked great but today no luck. i will try the gravity way tomorrow, i also noticed i could pull it left by hand but i also noticed mine wanted to swing back right on its own so bad that i had to put the pin in to keep it in position to get back to the house. my unit is less than 2 years old and has under 400 hours, its a "home owner" tractor not used commercially. brought her home brand new, did not have a bit of trouble out of my old b3030 even after 700 hours i hope my luck has not ran out.

Well, first thing is not to worry about it at this stage. After all, a couple of us have had the same identical problem with our M59s - which I'd imagine are very close in design to the L45. And we were able to clear it up with the "gravity method". In fact, until I saw your post this morning I had forgotten all about it. For me, that happened 4 years and about 400 hours ago without a repeat. We had a flood here in 2013, and the tractor has been used daily rebuilding the house and land. I've since changed the hydraulic oil and filters and found nothing strange in either.

When it first happened, my initial thought was that the problem was caused by a piece of crud stuck in one of the control or bypass valves, and was fixed because the "gravity swing method" somehow combined with bouncing the boom which caused the particle to loosen up, move on through, and eventually (hopefully) get filtered out. There's even a little bit of history that makes that possible: About a month before the weird swing problem showed up, I had changed the hydraulic oil and filters. While doing that, I had to tighten the pipe nipple that the #2 hydraulic filter screws onto. The pipe nipple was finger-loose & wiggling and required using a pipe wrench to wind it back in. So it's possible that particles got created in that process.

Another theory is that the one-way swing was caused by an air bubble that needed to work it's way through the system. Whatever it was, it hasn't happened again.
Hope you are as lucky, let us know.

no luck, played with it for about a hour total 3 different times today. have her cleaned up and ready for the dealer to pick it up this week hopefully. does not look like i will have any luck with it being under warranty. i will post the process and results and it is presented to me.
i do remember hearing a loud metallic "pop" noise while using it a few weeks ago digging up shale, when i think about it that was the last time i used it before i noticed the BH would start moving to the right slowly on its own while i was transporting material around the property.

This has been a random thing in my backhoe for a long time (like 1-100 swings). I would go to swing and nothing. I would let lever back to center and do it again and swing worked. Since I could recover I did not get overly concerned about it. My guess is something in the spool valve. I am going with what therubberduck said above. Can't see a hose fixing itself or a cylinder seal fixing itself but I can see something randomly affecting the spool valve.

local bota dealer picked it up today, we shall see how it turns out. played with it several different times and the only way I was able to get it to move left was either to actually pull it left or raise the right outrigger and let gravity slowly move it back left.
while holding the lever to the left I can pull or push the boom either direction, while moving control to the right I can not overpower even the slightest amount. I was told the "powertrain" has a 24 month warranty but the BH warranty died at 12 months.

440.00 to check out and "polish" a relief valve, another 400 if i wanted it replaced. the 440 included 100.00 round trip transportation.
2 hours in it did it again, i took the valve off and noticed what looked like air bubbles inside, put it back together in 5 minutes no more problems.
the problem happens when i am at full depth coming out of the hole swing right and there is a loud metallic noise / pop. after that left swing is gone.
i will post pics of the valve when time allows
Kubota said no for help with beyond warranty issues.
