Bobcat CT2025
I ordered the thumb with my Bobcat CT2025 and backhoe, but it wasn’t available in the spring when the tractor was delivered. It finally arrived this weekend, 45 minutes to install and wow what a game changer!

I’m putting an 800’ trail through the woods and the thumb makes removing the organic/moss layer way easier as well as grabbing felled trees. My feet/hour of trail will go way up now, excited!

Just wish it had come a bit sooner, would have saved a lot of paint on the dipper while moving large rocks.

Thumbs and grapples are wonderful. Once you have used them there’s no going back. Wife and I just trimmed a bunch of trees and vines in the cool part of the morning. Just need to grab and haul now. What would take several men all day to clear, load and haul, us old folks can do for ourselves in a few hours. Earned our dip in the spring water plunge pool the afternoon.

Is that Bobcat made by Daedong (AKA Kioti)? Is it the equivalent of the Ck2510?

And how much was the thumb kit? I'd like a thumb but my 2014 didn't come with flanges on the dipperstick.

This tractor is equivalent to Kioti CK2610. Tractor is essentially the same, but Bobcat uses their own design/supplier for the FEL and Backhoe.

I got the thumb for $1400 CAD, which is a ridiculous price compared to aftermarket, but the backhoe model is too new and I couldn’t find an aftermarket model that would fit.

I must say, it is very heavy duty compared to the light weight looking adjustment bars I’ve seen on some. I would have liked hydraulic, but since this backhoe swings a full 180 degrees it is easy to reach and adjust without getting down off the machine.

The tractor probably is Kioti, but the attachments are different.

If you are thrilled with it so far, replace the fixed tube with a hydraulic cylinder. Then it will work just like an excavator. "It's a fair bit of work though".

Great post!!!
The mechanical thumb is awesome.

I have found though that my 72” grapple has made it a bit duplicitous though.

In retrospect, and not having the experience otherwise, I’m thinking for myself that the best adornment for a backhoe for someone without a grapple is a hydraulic thumb.
It’s the lift function for any number of materials that makes the hydraulic thumb advantageous (IMO).

However I’m not thinking that the hydraulic unit is necessarily a requirement for a grapple owner unless it’s for a preponderance of excavation over general lifting of brush and other heavier materials.

Granted… the more the merrier, but at a cost. I may not install the hydraulic thumb kit although I do have the mechanical thumb now on my L3560 BH92 Backhoe from Kubota.
