Backhoes - What am I missing?

Puter,

You might note that it is very difficult to impossible to grade with a loader, and very difficult with a good hoe. But somewhat easier with a back blade or a rake. You might consider the degree of finish work you need.

Whoodle,

I grade all the time with my loader...

When I am done it is GREAT!

(definition of "GREAT" a four wheel drive truck can traverse
the ground without using a winch/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

There's "grading" and then there's "grading" right?

Now that I've had a little bit of fun with a rear blade I'd
like to replace the right lift arm with a cylinder to make
smaller adjustments.

Being able to change it as you go I think would really do
the trick.

Grading really separates the operators from the OPERATORS.

Some guys that do this for a living, take a dozer and when
they are done it's just about ready for grass seed. Any
runoff goes where it should with no puddles in between the
top and bottom of the grade.

Watching a pro use a dozer to move a few inches of dirt
around that they can't possible see or feel is
unbelievable and a truly humbling experience to anyone who
pretends to be even remotely competent at using a tractor.
