The author's comments say it really is what it looks like. (Don't read them, or your head will ache like mine does now.) That technique would never work on a hillside, but it's in the Netherlands, so no problem.

That's what I thought at first too, but watch when they make the corner. They're definately not connected.

if you need some practice here is a thought. I have a F-350 4 door long bed. 22 foot long give or take. try backing up a logsplitter. with the tractor. no problem at all..with the goliath truck. I end up disconnecting and pushing it where I want it or pull in and call it good

No standard practice for "opening out " did it for many years my-self and follow all the way around to save turning with a full trailer and trampling crop !

As a trainee, I got exactly 80 miles of interstate driving under my belt before the guy training me didn't show up for work and the boss told me to take the load. I got to the Post Office in Orlando and backed right into the dock. Guys on the dock couldn't believe my trainer wasn't in the truck. Heck, I didn't know it was supposed to be hard till they told me. The next day (since I made the trip, no more training needed according to the boss) I tried to back into the same dock and after 20 minutes another driver had pity on me and helped me out by telling me when to turn and which way.
Some days I still back up the same as day two...

There are those that can back a trailer, then there are those that CAN REALLY back a trailer. This video link is very amazing to me. If he gets it wrong, over the mountain he goes!!
