Backpack leaf blower

got me one of those $350 echo ones from home depot as I was getting sick of racking a sweeping the drive. Boy that thing "worked" great the dozen or so times I have used it.
Got home from work yesterday and notice a gas can was left out of my shop so I picked it up and took it to the shop and then noticed the blower was NOT where I put it. Sure enough my wife and 12 year old boy wanted to use the blower that was out of gas and they filled it up with gas that did not have a 50/1 mix.
Anyway I "liked" that blower.

No, not your fault. But I am going to be marking the gas tools for the farm as a winter project. You may know which gas cans are are for which gas tool, but if you have "others" that use them marking the can and the cap makes it easy to not be at fault. I use a black sharpie and a white pen (for black equipment) mixes have codes like X or O (and the mix is written on the can) so even the youngest can match. We lost a blower this year to unoiled gas too, I feel your pain.

Blower gas cap clearly shows it needs oil. They went and got the gas in my can that is for 50/1 mix but never added the oil

I don't think you can return your wife and kids back to the store as defective after 12 years. (unless you have the extended warranty)

Reminds me of a girl I dated in college who had a VW bug. She knew it was air cooled so she didn't have to check the radiator. However, she didn't check the oil, either, and that was the end of that.

Just pull the cylinder off and clean it lightly with muratic acid, this will remove the melted piston goo from the cylinder walls, get a new piston and rings and you should be good to go..an hour later.

Defend yourself if more is said..on my Echo blower say oil also shows drop on gas cap.

Those blowers have many uses other than for leaves.

Unfortunately, this stuff happens. At least their hearts were in the right place and, it is unlikely it will happen again.
