Backwards temp gauge or incorrect sender?

/ Backwards temp gauge or incorrect sender? #11
I've looked at the gauges on affordable's web site and they look pretty much the same. 100 on far left and 40 on far right.
Not what I'm accustomed to seeing either. I suggest reversing the wires on the back of the gauge itself

Sorry I was out of pocket My daughter had a baby Friday (my First Grand Baby) The OEM gauges are just like jpowells, the 2-different sending units are The old type for the single gauge,New type for the instrument cluster gauge.I have not ever seen one of these work backwards ? But It should start on the right and as the temp goes up move to the left. With the original gauge pegging out when the key was turned on it's leading me to a wiring /grounding problem.

If you want to try a different sender let me know

Tommy,

Congratulations on the grand baby. The new one I got from you is shorter than the old one that I pulled out. I don't know if that will help tell the difference between the old and new ones.

I've looked at the gauges on affordable's web site and they look pretty much the same. 100 on far left and 40 on far right.

I wonder then if you have the wrong sending unit? Or maybe if its fairly cheap just get a new matched sender and gauge. It can not be that much?

this is identical to mine
switch off it sits to the left
switch on it goes to the right below 40
but when warming up it rises from there to 80 or 85 like others said

there are two type of sending units .

example : if you have a 100 ohm gage the sending unit can be set up from
0 ohms to 100 ohms as the temp rises or 100 ohms to 0 ohms as the temp rises. it depend on the Gage deflection.
you need to change your sending unit., or the gage.

Might as well replace the gauge. I would think that it would cost less than trying to drain coolant out.

Without even checking to see if it's wired in backwards?

It works the same with the wires either way.
