My wife was calling the dogs in today when she saw these two flying around. They eventually landed in a tree on our property. The one on the lower branch is an immature bald eagle.

Beautiful picture!
Peter, where do you live? I see them occasionally as I drive up I-95 towards Houlton.

Cool, I've yet to see one up close.

They do look very regal, fitting of their "National Bird" status.

Thanks, JB.

We live in Lyman (southwestern Maine). I have seen a lot of bald eagles in Maine especially up north, first time we had 'em in our backyard though.

Nice pictures.:D

A couple of days ago when standing at a kitchen window I was watching one circling over the river.

We occasionally see the odd one circling out at the "Play Farm".:D

Nice picture.
I saw my second bald eagle from my yard last month. First time I saw one I wasn't sure what to think. Later, I found out that they are supposed to be native to this area. Which is an odd, since even my father doubts my eyesight when I mention it. Neither bird stuck around for pictures.

Indeed great to see the return of eagle from decades past.

Last couple of years pair eagles been keeping close eye on the upper valley....tough winter last year on wildlife, even the eagles didn't waste food.

Great pictures!!!

There is a nesting pair out at Lake Palestine, which is about 20 miles from our home. Their nest is right off a County Road, up in a pine tree. The traffic is so terrible there with so many people going to see them, that they had to set up road barriers and parking areas. Some people set up chairs and put their cameras on tripods and spend the day there. Others, like us, just go out there to see them, take a few pics, and move on. It's a pretty big local attraction.

We've seen some along our road. Something about chickens, ducks, rabbits, and other small animals that draw them to our area...
