( No way to have that bearing crossed locally? )
Not much available locally. My biggest hesitation to do this is that I would have to tear it down to get the bearing out. Then, I would have to put it all back together while I wait for parts. Then, do it all over again when the parts finally arrive. I would want to do this whether I did the project in my gravel driveway or rented a garage as I don't have any idea how long I will have to wait for parts. Also, I asked for a replacement shaft that the bearing rides on as well as the bearing because the shaft is blued from the heat generated as the bearing self destructed. I am pretty sure I won't find that in the lower 48 even, unless jinmaparts carries it. I will be checking with them, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

( We are a large supplier for Jinma parts and we cross over these bearings all the time, most of the time the last 3-digits on the bearing gives the size for cross over, waiting until October for parts ???? We can have the parts air freighted in a week or less if we don't have them in stock

I ordered the tractor last July and it showed up the end of January. I ordered the parts through the dealer as his warranty was parts only for the first year. His website says that parts usually take 60+ days at best unless I want to pay the high cost of air freight. Probably should have checked with you guys, but my problem is as I mentioned above, to get numbers, I have to get the bearing out, and to do that, as I understand it, I need to split the tractor. No small task for me, and I don't want to leave it split while I wait, perhaps for months for the bearing and shaft. Even if I had a shop to do the tear-down in and leave it, I'm sure I would forget how it goes back together. I probably have the only farm tractor in Juneau. Haven't seen another, ever. I was lucky enough to run into a mechanic that grew up in the country and worked on tractors, but he does mechanics for fun these days, and won't talk money and has limited time available. He will be helping me as opposed to the other way around. So I really want to have my ducks in a row before I start. That said, I am still looking around for a heavy equipment mechanic with facilities to take this on. Saving money on this loses to having it done right, and I don't have much confidence in my mechanical capabilities. I am mechanically minded, but I just don't have a feel for it.

Thank you for all your good advise, and be assured I will be flushing the tranny. Do you think I should do it before tear-down or after, or both?

Hey Jim,

You might try asking Greg, about what he recommends at this point. But I am inclined to think, that flushing afterwards would be best, but he or others may think before and after should be done.

I would definitely do this in an enclosed building, so that it will be protected from the elements, rain and dust and such, and still keep an extra cover on over exposed areas also.

I would definitely give JinmaParts.com a call, as they also have a service department and they will probably help you out with instructions on spliting the tractor as well as the parts. They have been really helpful to me, in my tractor related problems, and troubleshooting them.

Keep us updated if you can Jim.

Have a nice day,
Joe

Just a thought,
If you are unsure of putting it back together, take some good(several) photos from a digital camera and store them on your computer. I actually used to do this 30 years ago with a polaroid in our shop on strange or odd equipment that we would take apart and reassemble months later. Sure did help with reassembly.
With the invention of the digital camera its a very useful tool in my opinion.
Good luck, Harry
