Just stupid...I doubt that hydrant was installed while the Volvo was parked there.

Oh that was no Volvo it was a BMW, guess they do not have fire hydrants in Germany.

That big 6+ inch line can not be bent, the car owner's lucky they didn't rip the doors off the hinges to get a straighter line.
Those guys don't fool around, I was in the city while there was a house fire on the street I happened to be driving down, the fire truck was parked by a hydrant on the left side of the road (I thought), while the burning house was across and down the road a ways, here comes johny tourist driving slowly down the road, rubber necking to see the burning house, when I proceeded to almost have my whole dumb self run over by the fire truck racing up to front of the house that was burning, appears the truck was not parked, but was just dropping the end of the hoses off at the hydrant. valuable lesson learned!

I have a relative who is a Lieutenant in the NYC fire dept. They are told to do this. If someone parks in front of a hydrant and you need to run a line, take the shortest distance. Then, when you disconnect from the hydrant, hold the hose up and let it go in the car. Then, disconnect the other side but make sure it's higher than the end in the car. Guaranteed they never park within 100 feet of a hydrant again.
