I love the new machine (pics to come shortly), but the hydro speed range lever often resists going from Neutral to either the low (i.e., "I") or high (i.e., "II") range positions. When it does act stubborn, I depress either hydro pedal momentarily while the lever is in Neutral, and then it seems more receptive to going into either the low or high position. The dealer believes it will get less balky as things wear in, but I wonder. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem on the Class III Boomers?

Most if not all small tractors are like this - no synchros on the gear range part of the tranny. Also in the case of the Class III Boomer, no clutch either.

You've already figured out the proper procedure to get it in gear. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes.. I just tap the reverse peddle.. it's still the same as when I first bought it 4 years ago.

I'll third the motion, my TC-40D is exactly the same way. A tap on the hydro pedal works wonders.

OH BOY, Along with the cruise not working, my range selector just slides right in. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Just great, I knew I shouldn't have gotten this hydro! What next? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

2 years and 400 hours - same thing. After awhile, certain operational things like this become second nature. Kind of like briefly letting up on the HST pedals when shifting out of 4WD: you just do it, but don't give it much thought.

Thanks for all of the useful input. It feels like the sort of thing that doesn't change. Fortunately, the TCxxDA also has the electronic switch that increases travel speed when the tractor is in either low or high range. That makes use of range lever less frequent. Also, a tap on the hydro pedal seems to work.

All things considered, I love how this Class III Boomer is set up. It looks and performs great.
