Buying Advice Ballast Box vs Wheel Weights vs Filled Tires

Wow, talk about losing the point. Good explanation of the term sprung/unsprung Larry. To get back on point, what are you going to use as a designator between tire/wheel weight and chassis weight?? Can we us Recovery's designation?? Or do you consider either weight as having the same effect as implied in your response to him that the only weight that is different is that applied to the seat??

I think I'll join Recovery in this thread. Whewwww,,,, wore me out..... ;)

Yes, all very interesting information, but as to the matter at hand I believe we are discussing a matter of distinction without a difference.

[ I meant that the tractor seat contained the only weight that was sprung.] Even tho unsprung on a tractor, weight is all different by its location and therefore effect on CG. Getting the CG down to axle height would be great, but almost impossible without affecting ground clearance. Filled tires and wheel weights help lower it without that unwanted effect. A low slung implement like a bushog is even better at this pound for pound since it hangs below CG. Also, by being cantelevered behind, it shifts more tractor weight onto the rears for stability, and balances a loader tractor nicely.
