Ballast Box

Hi all,

Last night I picked up a Kubota Ballast Box for $160, used but in great shape. She is missing a scrap of paint here and there but I don't care so much about that.

I remember an old Matlock episode where Ben gets caught up in a prison riot and is forced to be come the negotiator between the inmates and the warden. One of the initial demands from the inmates was "new weights because the old ones are rusty". Ben skillfully said "Are the still heavy?"

I just can't believe some people would pay full price for something that just needs to be heavy. All and all I saved about $95 based on three quotes from three Kubota dealerships. I enjoyed my Craigslist experience.

Craigslist is great but you have to watch it and be ready with the scratch when something comes on there you want!

You're darn right there!!!

I picked up a very nice Woods chipper/shedder (probably about 5 years old) for $1000 off craigslist. Had the money in my pocket and went right to the seller the day it was posted.

I check CL almost daily looking for a used box blade but there is never anything on there within reasonable driving distance. Or, they want as much or more than I can by a new one at. I am perfectly ok buying used equipment, especially if there is a significany savings from buying new.

I bought a 72" 3pt Coroni finish mower off CL a few years ago and while it doesn't look pretty, it cuts really well and I only paid $400 for it.
