I bought one at the marktplaats auction site, a heavy semi-pro Huvema model. Huvema is a reknown Dutch trade agency that has a line of tools built to their specifications in the East i think. The one i bought is not sure to be working (seller traded it with something else and hasnt tried using it yet) but this particular model is still being made and sold new for about 1200 Euro, so for 150 Euro i think its definately worth the risk...

Marktplaats.nl > huvema bandzaag hu712bs - Bouw en Tuin - Machines

It gives me the confidence that all parts are available for a reasonable price.
I see it doesnt have a blade on it... What type of saw is recommended for sawing various steels- tubes, angle iron, flatbar ? i will mostly saw things with a wall thickness greater than 3 mm..
It will accept a 3/4" band saw, and can saw 300x175 mm straight, which means i can saw beams for a bale trailer bigger than my tractor can pull... ;)

So, anyone some advice on saw band teeth please ?

I think i got lucky today: I picked it up about 150 km north, towed it on an open trailer through the rain with only the electrical motor covered with a plastic feed bag. Yesterday evening left it in the workshop to dry without trying it, because i didnt want to risk any short circuiting from any moisture that may have gotten into any other electrical part.

This evening i plugged it in, hit the button and it purred... :D
I saw that there might be some work on the coolant pump, because the cable from the main switch to the coolant pump was detached, i guess the previous owner did that for a reason...
Now i need to buy me a saw band tomorrow morning and i can saw, for only 150 Euro ;)

When looking closer, i noticed that the complete cooling system was removed, the pump and tank were taken off, all i could find was two hoses and a taped off wire.

I went to the Welkoop (similar to co-op) and bought me a 20 watt pond fountain pump, for 25 Euro, with a capacity of 7.5 liter (´bout 2 gallons) per minute, which will be plenty enough.

Off course you can get these things cheaper from northern tool or any of those, but for Dutch ideas i got this stuff together pretty cheap...
I think the US market for this kind of gear is bigger because of the pioneer mindset of the Americans, they want to have their own to be independent, where the Dutch are in a crowded country with metalworking companies in every town, so the market for hobby or semi pro tools is a lot smaller, so the prices are higher.
