I have a question that I can't get an answer to anywhere else. I know this question doesn't belong here but I'll give it a shot because this group usually comes up with answers to all my other questions.
I have had funds removed electronically from my checking account over the last couple months that were not authorized. The people at my bank are complete idiots and can't seem to stop it from happening. It happened again yesterday after they promised me on Monday that the transactions had been stopped. Today I chewed them out and got some information that they wouldn't give me before.
The funds were removed by an ACH transfer by two different companies. When I called those companies I found out that they processed transactions for websites and they each told me what websites had submitted the information. **** sites of course!
All someone needed to do this was to know my checking account number and my name and address. This is the only information they need to enter ACH transactions! I have asked five banks so far about setting up an account that blocks all ACH transactions and they all say it can't be done.
So here is my question, how is it possible to set up a secure checking account? Everytime I write a check the person who receives it has all the information they need to set up these ACH transactions. I have no way of controlling what kind of scum works at any of these companies.
