So you are offended because he is using his "Business" account to purchase items for his "Business"
what tell you he is ''offended'' ... I think he is simply pointing out the hypocrisy from the guy in the video and as a response from someone in this tread pointing that out, I think 5030 point his valid and exaggerate his response to be so offended is stirring the pot, he makes money from these video's he dose these video to make money and get views, you can't complained it cost money to make videos in order to make money from videos. That be like complaining it cost money to put gas in your car to go to work. If he didn't make money he wouldn't make that many video or spend money making these video.

I just got that feeling right or wrong with this part of 5030 post, and maybe I was just thinking why does it matter were the money came from. The YT money or personal money. And no shade to 5030 just thinking out loud

Keep in mind that the guy on 'Project Farm derives income from YT every time you view his YT channel. I suspect strongly that he buys all the stuff he uses from his YT income and not directly out of pocket at all. He always says 'I'm not sponsored by anyone and I buy all the stuff used in my testing myself'. What he don't ever allude to is where that income to buy the stuff is coming from. I know, from his YT profit.

But could of also been a response to post 28 by etpm. Now I have a question?

That be like complaining it cost money to put gas in your car to go to work.
It that work money or directly out of pocket money? Same as YT money and directly out of pocket money. That was the point with my post with 5030 And offended may not of been the correct term to use.

I always buy the cheapest bar oil I can get and after the good results it got I will continue doing it. Even if it got worse results I’d probably still continue doing it. A new bar and chain combo is like $75 for a 20” one that I run. I can usually find the cheap oil on sale for $6.99 where the name brand is $30. I’ve saved enough money in 4 gallons to buy a new bar and chain. My bars aren’t wearing out excessively fast and are lasting for a lot more than 4 gallons of oil through the saw. I don’t intentionally buy motor oil for a saw because it cost more than actual bar oil but I’ve been caught with only motor oil or hydraulic oil available or had a partial container to use up and I’ve put quite a bit of both through a saw and it seems to work fine.

Of course he makes money from the videos. Who would think he buys thousands of dollars of products and spends hundreds of hours testing and filming them for free? I’m sure he deducts the money he spent on supplies off his taxes too.

I simply hate character attack or insult in a argument. In my opinion the first who start insulting the other one character in a argument automatically lose the argument.

Not sure if I follow is it the same when only on income is present. But in this case he certainly has two income. When there is two income present one should ''assume'' you used the income of one revenue toward that work expenses at least that how it should work especially in a private business scenario like this one ... if no income comes from YT then he could say that, it be it's out of pocket money in that case... I am sure at first for this guy it was a valid thing to say, he was most likely doing it for fun or for his own curiosity and sharing his result it take a certain amounts of likes and subscriptions to make money on YT but once a channel is profitable you don't do it only for fun anymore and you can't say that.

I am not sure why you are repeating back to me what I pretty much stated ? I am not the one you need to convince.

You bring up a very good point. None of the bar oils are causing excessive chain or bar wear they are causing premature failure. People don't replace chains due to link wear or bars for rail wear. Most bars are replaced due to external damage due to being pinched, bent, or nose sprocket failure. Chains either get bent, hit foreign objects or just get filed down to the point they need replaced.

Do we know if there are two incomes and not YT is his sole income. Even if two incomes, depending on how his "Business" YT is setup If sole proprietorship. The YT income would be considered personal income. So either way it is still "out of pocket"

He should have thrown hydraulic fluid in there. My Limb Hog is self oiled from the hydraulics. I've often wondered how that would compare to bar oil.

Very interesting ProjectFarm video. I, too, would love to have seen hydraulic oil included. I use it exclusively, and I use a LOT of bar oil when chainsaw milling. I use an oiler tank at the end of my 52" bar to feed oil under the chain, and it only has gravity flow pressure. At only 24" above the bar, my oil line clogs easily.

And, both brands of hydraulic chainsaws I have owned (Fairmont and Stanley) use hyd oil for lube, strategically leaked onto the chain.

High viscosity oil, or that guey stuff would not work well for milling, IMO.

My grandfather apparently just kept around some used motor oil that he'd feed through the chainsaw. You can't go much cheaper than that!!! However, your calculation that a few gallons would pay for a new chain and bar as needed probably makes sense.
I do some pruning and firewood, but I don't think I've ever worn out a chain or a bar. I personally like new oil because it is cleaner. However, I don't get too picky. Perhaps I'll try to hunt down some of the Harvest King that did well in the Project Farm tests.
