That is low cost for a transfer switch and very little labour $$$ to install vs other transfer switches.

This is the the best I've seen. I'm saving up for it. $500.00 for the unit and $1000.00 labor for the installation.

I was looking at the generlink earlier today as it is my most viable option. I have four breaker boxes in two buildings and no way to install a break-before-make transfer switch. Not the cheapest for some folks, but best for my particular situation.

Asked the electrician about adding a generator connector when he came out to do a load center for me. He said the local codes prohibited whole house connectors for non-fixed generators, and you couldn't get a whole house transfer unless the fixed generator was big enough to carry the full house load...

So, as I type, I've got cords running in through the sliding glass door from the generator to freezer, fridge's, etc. while waiting for the power to come back on, thinking evil thoughts of adding a 30amp two leg breaker to the load center in the basement.

That's understandable. I can't afford a whole house generator. But am tired of all the extension cords running through the window. The Honda HP2S will handle twelve circuits. It has a microprocessor. It lets you program the priorities so as not to overload the generator. It will sense load and not kick everything at once so as to not overload the generator. It puts things on standby as the load demands. Everything is going to run but only when HP2S says it should so it won't overload the portable generator.

It is a good idea, but I have 400 amp service and it will not work on that.
