OSB tends to sag at 2' centers. I used barn metal for my ceiling. I used 1x4s on 16" centers across my 2' center trusses. They have an interior weight metal that is some cheaper. It has been up for 20 years. I can get it wet bang it with things and it does great.

I wouldn't us OSB for anything! I know that sounds crass, and I'm sorry..........But a barn I'm building, the Amish craftsman suggested 7/16" OSB, and my (Carpenter/Home-Improvement) son, suggested 1/2" CDX Plywood...........Just my take. Do it once, do it right...Just my 2 cents. ! ~Scotty

interior ceiling 5 rib tin... exactly like the roof material except its thinner gauge. clean, bright and goes up quick, and spans 2' OC fine

OSB on two foot centers should be 1/2" or thicker. There is nothing wrong with OSB, it's a very economical option.

I would use "liner panel". It's basically the same steel you would use on the outside but with a cheaper paint on it without a warranty. We span up to 8' with the standard 29 gauge.

Just and addition. I went with the 1x4s on 16" so I could pile the insulation up.

What's the point of going with thinner metal if you have to add that much extra lumber?

You can blow a foot or better of fiberglass on 29 gauge on 8' centers.

I used "T111"what you need to do is screw 1x4 (on edge) to act as stiffeners on the top side an perpendicular to the rafters. They don't have to touch the rafters just come close. What I did was pre paint before installing then fill screw holes an final paint. I have also done this with the really thin Wainscoting(just add more stiffeners.)

Interesting post as I thought of going with OSB for the ceiling in my garage but now am having second thoughts.

Jim, can you let me know what you end up doing and post pics if you can? The steel ceiling sounds interesting but a lot more expensive than OSB.
