I have the attached barn and as you can see it has no door. I have seen sliding barn doors but as you can see beside the door is an open wing, so I would not be able to put any hardware on the bottom of the door.

Anyone have any ideas as to haw I could attach doors to this barn? I don' t really want swinging door because I think they would sag. Also, can't put up any type of roll up door because there is not enough room above the door.

Thanks

The only thing you'd need on the bottom is a stay roller which could be attached to the post(s).

I'm presuming that the only opening that you are seeking a door for is the center one.

Thanks. I just assumed that I had to have hardware all across the bottom of the door.

You have several options depending on your future planes for the building,
1) a single track full span and either a large single door or smaller double doors with the option of one each way or both one way.
2) a double track fullspan, if you ever anticipated closing in either side both outside could have doors with the center being on the outer track can roll either way and the outers can go in.
a single track you would be restricted to the number of doors you could operate, with double it would be up to you.

I'm going to buck the trend here and suggest that you likely will need something to keep the bottom in check at the other end when open. Otherwise, there's nothing to stop the wind from moving it around at that end. With the open sides, the wind will be hitting that giant sail unabated, unlike a door sliding open in front of a wall. Rollers will do fine on the inside posts, however, that's probably not feasible on the outside ends. You could always place something as simple as a couple of cinder blocks out there that you can slide the door between. They would hold it in place, and yet still be moveable to have complete access to the open wing areas. :2cents:

The door stop hardware low down on the outer posts would do that.

A track at the bottom ices up in the winter and makes it difficult to use the doors. You can install rods in the ground tat catch the outer side of the door to provide some lateral support at the bottom of the door.

I'd do a double track and rollers on the posts to keep the doors from blowing outwards, and stop brackets at the ends to keep from going off the track and also hold the doors from swinging out. The rollers would work even when the doors are only partially open, the stops only work when they're fully open.

Could try something like this.

Barn door - Bifold.jpg

Fastened at outside edge like a bi-fold closet door. Inside edge rides in a barn door track. Well supported, shouldn't sag. Can open in or out.
