I was hoping for a different response, but guess it's to be expected. We have two chicken coops and the mice are everywhere. It's become a huge issue. They dig tunnels under everything. We tried poison, but it did't accomplish anything, and then when our chickens found the bodies, they would get sick eating them. None died, but you could tell something was wrong for a few days. We have several traps set out that catch them non stop, but it's a slow process without any real results. Our most effective method has been to put the hose in the hole and flood them out. They come out of the water, or other holes one at a time, and the chickens go crazy catching and eating them. I saw over 30 come out of one hole, and my wife said that she got at least 80 of the other day.

They run around at night, when the chickens are all asleep, and they hid in their underground tunnels during the day when the chickens are active. So far, this hose trick has been the most effective.

I keep telling myself to make one of those five gallon bucket traps. Then I forget until I see a mouse, and I tell myself to do it, but get distracted again.

WOW, I am glad I don't have an issue like that.................

Peanut butter on a roller over a 5gal bucket. Just have a skimmer nearby so you can clean them out easily. They really do work better than any trap I've seen. Although... I still prefer cats for barns.
