Barn Post Question

A lot of old 100yr+ barns sitting like a box on the ground, with the posts rotted at ground level, slowly sinking as they rot. Others are sitting on rock foundations and are still solid.

Couple more points about those old barns. One, the materials were better. Two, they were maintained and probably a few of the post did rot, just replace/repaired as needed.
