I've recently gotten a place with a 2.5 acre pond, about 20 feet deep at the deepest point. It's fed by a well (no spring), and I was told that it is stocked (to what level I dont know) with carp, bream, and bass. Ive seen some carp near the surface that are about 2 feet long, but that's about it. I wouldnt know a bass from a shark otherwise.

I'd appreciate some advice on basic pond maintenance. Ive looked online but most everything I read is about maintaining a pond for sport fishing and growing the biggest bass, etc. I might drown a worm every now and then but Im not in the business of growing big sport fish. I just want a decent, healthy pond with a balanced fish population, and whatever other creatures come with that.

Can someone help? Im completely new to the pond thing. Thanks.

There is allot of things you can do, some of them are even fun! Fish should be a good sign for starters.

Go to this web site. more info than you will care to know about ponds and their health. Make sure you go to the forums section.
