I just bought a set of Milwaukee Li-Ion tools- M18 series. The battery showed 75%. I cut 30 pieces off of a 2X4, then put the battery on the SawZall, and went around the yard, trimming dead branches up to 6" with a brush cutting blade. I then put it on the drill, and did about a dozen 1-1/2 holes before the battery died. The circular saw is great; they turn at lower RPM, so it takes a little longer, but not much. I noticed that the 6-1/2" blade is very thin. I would imagine a very sharp blade would help battery life and performance as well. Sometime I'll have to take a fully charged battery and see what the little saw will do. BTW- Most battery circular saws are left handed (???) I prefer it, since I am left-handed anyhow. Worm drive corded saws are usually left hand, too.

My vote goes for the DeWalt 6.5" with XRP batteries. My dad was an ag teacher for 30 years and we worked in construction and farming all our lives. When we began putting the wood siding on my barn, i broke out the fancy cordless skil saw. Later on that night I was buying him one (along with a sawzall) he liked it so much.

I have a 18v Milwaukee that I bought six or seven years ago works great. I don't think I have ever gotten my corded Craftsman saw out since.

yup go with what you have. Even the consumer grade tools work well.

The pro tools will run a lot longer due to the larger capacity batteries. I absolutely love my Milwaukee tools, the one I use most is the "Hatchet" sawsall running the lithium ion batteries. It uses the V18 batteries as do all of my other Milwaukee tools. They have become my favorite battery operated tools due to the low cost of purchase and outstanding performance. I have the 6 1/2" saw (around $40) from e-bay. The metal cutting circular saw (around $50), the "Hatchet" sawsall, a standard sawsall, the 1/2" hammer drill, the 1/4" impact driver (king cong of 1/4" drivers), the 1/2" impact driver, (rotates the 6 wheels on my one ton truck on about 1/4th of a battery charge) the flashlight, and the SDS hammer drill, the portable vacuum cleaner and the job site radio, and probably a couple more I have forgot about. The charge level indicators built into the batteries are nice and I haven't had a battery failure yet.

This is a link to many of the Milwaukee tools and I have written reviews of many of them. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=tools&field-keywords=milwaukee+v18&x=13&y=15

I also like my Makita lithium Ion tools but I have suffered a battery failure on a 3 amp hour battery ($100) that has only been charged 4 or 5 times. I will have to reserve judgment on these tool untill I know how Makita is going to respond to this failure. As for now my Milwaukee is used the most, followed up by my DeWalt. No failures there with a lot of battery use both Ni-cad and Lithium Ion. The 4 1/2" grinder/ cut off tool is the best tool in the world for cutting plastic siding or sheet metal ductwork. Fast and easy to control. It cuts sheet metal ductwork like paper.:cool:
