Bathurst - V8 Supercars

Hey we have just had our annual V8 Supercar (Touring Car) race at Mount Panorama at Bathurst.

It is one of the premier touring car races in the world and I understand it is broadcast all over the world.

Did any of you guys watch it?

There was no news of it here that I heard... That's a shame, becuase what I 've read, there's some really good racing.

That's why I mentioned before in other posts my interest in 70-75 Falcon's. There were some hot ones that did really well in that race years back.

Yes I remember you asking about them.

Ford has really struggled here in the last few years, both in the sales race and on the track race.

Their Falcon has not been popular, with Holden's Commodore being with winner.

Ford hasn't won Bathurst for 4 or 5 years and Holden finished in the top five at Bathurst this year.

New BA Falcon out now and I am hoping to lease a V8 (XR8) version for my business next year. Sounds like this is the one to pip Holden in the sales race at least.

They now have a Turbo 6 cyl model out. It flies but I am keen on an 8 but they aren't released yet.

Well, around here about all the racing you see on TV is Nascar. I got to say I am not a fan[Sorry all you nascar guys out there] strikes me as kind of the pro wrestling of auto racing. I DID have a chance to catch some tapes of some pro rally car racing in Europe, AND that was cool /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif Those guys are CRAZY.

BC (Before children) I used to watch a bit of motor racing. Now all I get time for is our V8's.

I enjoyed Nascar, maybe because we don't have it (on a regular basis here)

At the Gold Coast Indy one year ( I went to a few) , they had nascars. man those things were loud. They used to shew up brakes like there was no tomorrow.

I guess they are made to GO, not STOP !!

My understanding is that you have very competitive Sprint Car racing Down Under. We had some locals from a nearby track that have made trips down for "Aussie vs US" shows/races. Apparently some of the dirt track racers are pretty good down by you.

I've also heard that you get some pretty good short track speedway motorcycle racing too. We have atrack nearby; it is great to watch!
