Disposal too.

There is no disposal issue. The lithium (and other useful things) in EV batteries is richer than raw ore from the ground. Plus we are not talking about throwing away two AAA cells from your TV remote control, my Tesla Model S has over (7,100) 18650 cells. Over 1000 pounds. Rich in recycle resources.

6.5 years later the capacity now is only 95% of new. I'm so disappointed!

120km empty van, this is a quick fix to have a van on the market for city's that have restrictions on ICE in the inner city area. I do think it's a VW eGolf drive train.IMG_20200623_094003.jpg

210 Wh/mile is outrageously fantastically good. Beyond belief, even. One would question whether this is the in-vehicle gauge measuring power drawn from battery or the EPA method of measuring power from the grid used to charge the battery?

EPA says 290 Wh/mike for 2020 Bolt EV.
260 Wh/mile for 2020 Tesla Model 3 Long Range.

Compare Side-by-Side

Sadly that article is not worthy of the late great Malcolm Forbes.

So what if cobalt and other things come from dirty sources? This is solely due to irrational US environmental activists in the EPA who have prevented clean American production if not-so-rare rare earths.

Furthermore lithium batteries do not consume those materials. The raw materials are recoverable when battery cells reach end of life.

As for coal-fired electricity, USA coal generated electricity moves a power hungry Tesla Model S a mile for about the same emissions as a 30 MPG gasoline vehicle. Model 3 is about same as 45 MPG. But the EV has the advantage of being able to effortlessly use nuclear, natural gas, coal, hydro, solar, what have you. The gasoline vehicle requires great effort to dilute gasoline 10% with ethanol, for questionable net energy or environmental benefit.
