Man that looks nice! Did you do all that yourself? Restoring a classic has been on my bucket list for decades, just always seem to be lacking either money or time.

Kind of related but you wonder what the classic car scene will look like with ICE going the way of horse drawn plows. Chevy announced their electric crate motor package which will allow you to essentially plug-n-play an EV drivetrain into an older ICE powered car but with only 200hp it's not really targeted at the enthusiast market. Once there's a package like what's in the Tesla Model 3 which does 0-6 in 3 seconds with a top speed of 160mph I can see that being a real game changer.
It's always been that way, I just keep it stock and running. As long as gasoline, oil and parts are available they'll stay around.
EVs won't be a game changer for people collecting old cars, trucks, etc.

This is from 2oo9. I would miss the sound though.

What can't be understated is what this really represents. The best and brightest minds on planet Earth are working on EVs and EV related tech. Not just car people but top tech talent too. Before they all wanted to work for Apple or Microsoft or Google, now they want to work for Tesla and Rivian and other startups because they know that's the future. All the issues and questions that people think are being ignored or unanswered or unimagined have been worked on and considered for years and the amount of resources focused on solving them are unprecedented in scale. The entire automotive industry knows the ICE is a dead man walking and this is just Hyundai making it official. The rest will follow, the only question is when.

Don't say that, younger people might want the looks but don't bother with a high maintenance and old gas engine, and is it different to put a electric motor vs buying a performance engine that never was possible to buy with the car?

We have an annual “town fair” in my little hometown. Dozens of Collectible cars will show up. Last year, a guy had a 1909 Packard-looking car. Battery powered and VERY collectible. Original-looking wet cell batteries are connected together under the floor

I could see that. One could probably buy a sound system that would add the V8 sound to your vehicle, just be part of the entertainment system. Some of the bolt in replacement electric motors i've seen, such as Fords, would basically bolt right on the engine mounts and bell housing. Not cheep though.

I read somewhere that some recent cars have that feature.

My neighbor in town has a recent Mustang, apparently modified so far that its no longer street legal. I hear him take it out Saturday mornings making a huge noise from the moment he cranks the engine then even more racket as he gets a couple of blocks from the house and opens it up. It sounds like he's doing quick 0 - 90's, clocking drag strip times, on a quiet neighborhood principal street. Then he gets it back out of sight in his garage in a few minutes.

But now the 4 door pickup he used for commuting has been replaced by a Tesla3. I asked him if the Tesla is quicker than the Mustang. (I suspect it is). I didn't get a straight answer, just that "each has its advantages". I think what the Mustang means to him is a weekly testosterone restorer and he'll never give it up.

The big transportation failure on I-95 should give good feedback on how EVs do stuck in the snow for 27 hours on the freeway. There were apparently a lot of IC vehicles abandoned on the highway. That's a pretty low bar for an EV to get over.

Wife & I collect old cars, Rambler for me. Here's a 1941 Nash in "Camp mode".
First date with my wife 50 years ago her Dad said "oh no...he's driving a Rambler!" View attachment 727925
My folks bought a brand new Rambler when I was 14. It was a godsend to my teenage years.
