But but but Kia! $20k is 1-2 years of salary?

Compare apples to apples. Steak to steak. Nothing in 1977 compares to even a Kia in 2024.
I’m comparing averages. On average, new cars aren’t less expensive. They will only go up in cost…

I have been pondering the leftists in CA pushing EVs. CA has the highest gas prices in the nation. Why is that? Might it be taxes on fuel?

Is there a chance they are as stupid as the socialists in Norway?

When they lose the tax dollars from gas, where will the money come from?

Norway raised the cost of electricity. What will the morons in CA do?
The Norwegian government has never earned so much money on oil and gas as the last two years, the Ukraina war has been extremely profitable.

And the government does has a cap on the price or kWh, when the price goes over that the government pays the rest.

All Superchargers on I-75 have at least 8 charging stalls.

Buc-ees has 12. Lexington has 12. London has 8.

If only one was in use then no one was waiting.
Or the other units were malfunctioning.

Yes, yes, and yes. My town adds an additional yearly vehicle registration (vehicle tax) of $100 a year to BEV’s to offset taxes not collected from gasoline or diesel taxes.
Our government size will always grow and taxes will always increase.

The future our government wants, is everyone’s energy machines, from toasters, to vehicles, to home heating/cooling , cooking, etc..to be bi-directional tied to the central electric grid. Your energy profile is then totally available. Other information about you, will be traveling over your electric lines too

Imagine when everyone is part of a giant captive audience to the electric grid for everything. No gasoline, or diesel transportation. What do you think will happen to the price of electricity, and taxes on electricity?

When everyone is driving heavy EV’s, and not walking or taking bicycles, what might the political view of these big heavy machines be then?

The fuel taxes are high but not that high alone. Is cumulative taxes and regulations which drive up all prices in California. Home of the $18 Big Mac Meal. ($6 here)

When there is competition prices stay down. PV solar is competitive with the cost of utility electricity. For the price of a nice car one can produce one's own electricity with negligible maintenance costs.

With nearly new Tesla 82 kWh batteries going for $8500 on eBay PV storage becomes very very attractive. Without PV storage TVA will pay less than 3¢/kWh for what one produces. With PV storage one keeps the power for oneself to use later when the utility charges 10¢ to 12¢/kWh.

I predict that the number of people storing energy that they produce will be infinitesimally small for the foreseeable future.
