Battery Charger and electrical line loss question.

/ Battery Charger and electrical line loss question. #21
You want to have the power company run the highest amperage service that they will run at the lowest rate. The installation might be higher but just because you don't need a lot of amps at this time doesn't mean that your needs won't rise in the future. You never know what hobbies you might get into that are amperage intensive. I know a guy that has 3 phase ran to his house, it might sound like overkill but his welder doesn't dim the lights. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Good point bgott. I hope to build a 3 stall garage in the next few years; if I do this right I might be able to run a sub panel from the pole barn to the garage.
Junkman, my home service is already in place. I have 200 amps there. But to run off that I would have to dig the trench an extra 100 ft ...and I'd have to do it all.
I'll start another thread once I've meet with the power companies rep, cause I'm sure I'll have a few more questions for the TBN experts.

Thanks guys!
