Battery corrosion

   / Battery corrosion #11
That battery is filled with acid and has holes on the top. The acid will slosh out during normal operation and splash onto all sorts of things causing corrosion. That is not the battery's fault or the tractor's fault. I had the exact same problem very soon after putting my CK to work so I got rid of the stupid liquid acid battery and replaced it with an optima style AGM or "gel cell" battery. These batteries will not slosh acid or leak anything out to corrode your machine.

Also consider that you have sucked this highly corrosive acid through your radiator and oil cooler.

Since installing the optima, my corrosion problem has ended. The damage has been done however and it will never be as good as new.

Been there, done that. Finally tossed the original battery out after fighting the same problem. Replaced the battery cables, tossed two boxes of baking soda at everything and bought a sealed battery. End of problem.

I saw HB's post long time ago and knew it going to be an issue.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that tractors in a crate arrive at the dealers lot without a battery and have to be provided by the dealer unless the tractor is assembled prior to delivery at the Wilson warehouse. I'm not sure what Kioti provides for a battery if they are preassembled but I would hope that it would be a sealed battery of some type.

You're right Steve, the dealer puts the battery in. You could specify a particular battery and pay the difference or even negotiate it into the purchase.
