Battery exploded, every one is ok so far

The link shows the Deltran Battery Tender instructions for lead acid battery charging. Their web site has instructions for their chargers designed for AGM and newer batteries.
It covers all the items in question, what to connect to what when, where to stand and face when doing so, etc., in detail.
This should end any confusion or tendency to follow bad habits.

you're lucky batteries don't use Oxalic acid, it burns right down to the bone in seconds..

Are you sure you aren't talking about Hydrofluoric? I have used both; Oxalic is used as a bleach for such things as a wooden fence; Hydrofluoric is used for dissolving sand. It will go through the skin and actually dissolve the bone. It is one bad motor scooter. Worked with a guy when I was in the lab that got some on his little finger; it was mixed with some DMSO and he lost part of his finger. Bad stuff.

Yeah! Sure glad batteries don't have nitroglycerine or a bubonic plague agent in them

I was wondering too... a silversmith I use has Oxalic Acid on hand for cleaning silver... seen him use it and was thinking if it could go through bone he wouldn't have fingers left.

Success or crazy... sometimes I wonder myself.

Always been fascinated by cars, engines, tractors... etc...

Grew up around the car business but none of the cars came through the business... thinking back of all the cars that went for nothing during the gas shortages of the 70's and what they go for now boggles the mind...

That said... I started out wanting one car from every decade... just have never been able to have them all in one place.

Hint... small cars take up less room and some have small batteries!

Batteries are the bane of collecting antique cars... I have a small army of battery tenders and they do help...

I attended a presale viewing of mostly post WWII microcars a while back. The collector who sold out got a pile of them into one building. This was somewhere down in Ga. You didn't happen to be there, did you?

No… but I can fit 4 in the space occupied by the 1967 Fleetwood...

Long ago I gave up on batteries for everything.... but I probably have 25 chargers with a lot of tenders...

Ever since that one battery exploded... I am most careful not to make the last connection at the terminal... and on the old car batteries... I always check the electrolyte level first to make sure it is full.
