Battery Fluid a Bubble'in Mess !!

   / Battery Fluid a Bubble'in Mess !! #11
My TC40D was purchased off a dealers lot and battery leakage silently had done serious damage. I had warrantee work done (by a second, more honest dealer), but now that it's out of warrantee (2 yrs.) even worse problems have appeared. The corrosion (which looked like rust) on the hydraulic front steering lines has caused the right wheels' line to leak hydraulic fluid and the plate beneath the battery where the supersteer arms attach and the arms' fasteners are corroded and weak. Now the tractor is parked, they say "don't run it " or I may wreck the hydraulic pump.
I thought I had covered the bases by taking it to dealer #2; however, I recall them saying they loose money on warrantee work because New Holland doesn't fully cover costs. I guess that's why they didn't complete the repair.
Leaking hydraulics can blind you or jet through your skin like a tattoo, and steering arm failure can kill you! Now I've got to pay for new lines, plate, arm fasteners and road service all of which should have been done under warrantee.
Have your battery leak damage checked thoroughly by a trustworthy mechanic. look hard at any "rust". Don't get suckered into a cosmetic repair.
