Battery Jumper

I think they also perform very poorly in cold weather - worse than lead acid batteries.
I have a lithium pack from Costco that works very well, and doubles as a power pack with connections for anything.
thats a depends question, lithium can't be charged below freezing, i know some of my lithium Flashlights have trouble in deep cold, not sure how bad the jump packs are. I don't store mine in the vehicle though either.

I carry jumper cables. I am very skeptical of these jump packs, especially the wildly exaggerated amperage claims.

If they are really are all they are cracked up to be, why haven't auto manufacturers switched over to them instead of lead acid batteries? The weight and space savings would make it worth while.

I’ve started a 4bt Cummins with the battery completely dead with the 2000 amp rated Noco. I tried the same feat with jumper cables and it did eventually work but I had to wait like 20 min for the battery to charge. I started a 5.9 Cummins with the starting battery completely dead with the biggest Noco that’s 4-5000 amps.

the only downside to these jump packs, is the limited duration between jump. on the one i own (not Noco) you only get about 4 seconds before the pack needs to rest. So if you have a truck that needs 20 + seconds to start, this may be slightly frustrating to have to wait a couple seconds in between. these packs do get warm after 20+ seconds.

This is why I haven't bought one yet. I keep reading all these weird problems, like above, and that they can catch on fire when charging, etc.

I'd like to have one that I can throw under the car seat and "forget about" until I need it (except for maybe plugging it into the car 12v outlet a couple of times a year). But don't want to come back to a car one day that is a smoking pile of burnt rubber...

I have a FatMax 2500A lithium ion battery jump box. I'm very happy with it. It was $120 + tax a few months ago.

I started with an HF LiFe VIKING about 8 years ago. We've a Honda Civic that sits idle 99% of the time. Jumped it about dozen times when the battery showed completely dead. Convinced me to buy a larger Gooloo which I've used on my 7.3L diesel dually (in warm weather) when my battery died, several times on my Kubota B7610 and even my M4700.
I recently bought a NoCo Genius 5 and used it on some 12V 850CCA batteries that came out of my 7.3 ford and had set for a year and got so dead I was thinking they were only good for a core charge. They would only charge to 8.5 volts, but by judicious use of the NG 5 and a Schumacher and about 3 cycles of charging they are now at 12.4 volts and seem to be pretty well back to normal.
/edit
I plan to use them for a remote set up to maintain a few Wyze cams, my Mobley, hooked to the battery and a solar panel or two.

If you hook a dead load to mine it flashes the fault light and nothing happens. Pushing the red button that sorta looks like an override doesn’t change anything. View attachment 1944862
that's odd. My son has noco brand and when the battery in my tractor exploded, We used his to start the tractor to get it up to the shop
