battery not charging

I just charged up my battery for my x500 and after a couple of hours or so the tractor stops and the battery is dead again but after I charg the battery it starts again any Ideas? Could it be the voltage regulator?

If it's under 4 years old, it's still under warrantee... If not, you'll need to grab a meter & start troubleshooting the problem. I've seen some good troubleshooting videos on Youtube. Might be a good place to start.
If your battery is more than 3 years old it is definitely suspect.

Check for loose fan belt, a wire pulled loose by a limb or stick, or corroded or loose battery cable at one end ,possibly at the ground to frame.

Take the battery to a local Autozone and have it tested for free. They will do the same for your alternator. It does sound as though the tractor is running till there is no electric.

Put a volt meter on the battery post's, not the end cables,
check for a charging voltage when running, if its not charging, your regulator or alternator could be gone.

What is the battery terminal voltage at slow and fast idle? Sounds like a total failure to charge. Any chance the battery was low this spring and somebody boosted the tractor to start ?

Had the same problem on my Ford toward the end of this past Winter. Discovered a plug connection that had a little dirt/corrosion. A little cleaning and it was back to normal.
