not going to have a chance to try this last post for a few days but will post results when i can.Do i unplug the regulator and do the jumper wire on the alt. with the plug still attached to the alt.?? Thanks for all the help so far.............

Just so you know, "geneo", I had the exact same problem with my 2550,
I even changed out the regulator with a new one.
I didn't change anything. When running, your tractor should be reading at least 13.5 volts.
Ideally, it should read 14.5, the voltage your reading sounds like the battery voltage.
Test your car battery for fun and compare.
Test it running and then with the key off and you'll see what I mean.

You could. ... I was thinking to unplug the connector from the alt and feed 12V to the spade lugs on the alt corresponding to the blk [-] and wht/grn [+] wires. ... Either way you eliminate the chance of feeding back to the Vreg. I havnt seen mine. Is it up under the dash somewhere?
