battery replacement

I have an 2004 BX2230 with about 625 hours on it and have never changed my battery. While I have never experienced any problems with the battery, I have this fear that some day in January, it'll snow heavily, and I won't be able to snow-blow my way out because the battery is dead. I decided to replace it and had the guys at Batteries Plus check the old one out. They told me the battery was only sightly less powerful than a new one, but a new one would have a significant edge in cold cranking amps. I wound up buying a new one anyway, still thinking I would kick myself if it didn't start on that future snowy day. Good move or bad move?

I would say you made the right move. I have a 10-year-old Silverado with the original battery. I said that I would replace it before winter also. It died a few months ago at 10:00pm when I was downtown in a major city, where all the parking was perpendicular. We needed a cop to block traffic so that we could roll the truck back to jump it.
Like I said, you made the right move.

Sounds like cheap piece of mind to me. If you didn't replace and it failed you would have kicked yourself; or it would have been a constant thought every time you used the tractor.
