Battery Tender or trickle charger

I use a small automatic trickle charger whenever I expect my 2210 to be parked for more than 2 weeks. As I understand it the use of a charger/maintainer will prevent the corrosion on the terminals which I believe is caused by gases that vent while the battery is discharging?? I had some corrosion on my battery that first summer I had my 2210. Kept the battery well charged since then and have yet to see any white stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice. I bought a Battery Tender off of eBay this afternoon. I'll hook it up when it gets here.
