more than likely it's one of 2 things eather the vibration of the tractor has cracked the case on the battery (can be found by spraying some cleaner/checker from wally world) or possibly just nature of a non-sealed battery that emmits natural gassing as it discharges/charges due to storage etc.
if the battery's not cracked all you need to do is put a coating of grease to prevent the gasses from corroding the terminals as for the other corrosion indicators i'd say you've got a busted battery
