What battery do I need for my yanmar f16d

bear10,when I bought my 1610d about 6yrs ago it had a deep cycle batt. in it .I believe it 's meant for trolling motors but has worked well for me,the manualcalls for a 12v,60ah russ

A deep cycle battery is meant for a long slow discharge, like floor sweeper machines or trolling motors, a starting battery for cranking is for a very high output to power the starter. Cold Cranking Amps.

I bought Autozone's dual purpose deep cycle/start battery for my Yanmar. It only lasted a couple of years. Apparently these dont have the protection against vibration that a tractor requires, so after a while they short internally.

I went to Wally world and bought the biggest automotive battery that would fit. That was about 3 or 4 years ago. I has worked great.

I guess I'm lucky cause it's worked for me through all the seasons for 6yrs. now, however when it does go bad I'll replace it with a conventional batt. russ
