I have a 716 all apart minus the tranny. The clutch is rusty and stuck. I've sprayed it full of wd40 and put it in a press. No luck. I left the cone pusher and bearing assembly on the clutch while pressing. I've pounded with a hammer.
What parts actually separate when the clutch disengages? Just looking at the clutch (cone pusher side) it's not obvious to me which parts should be separating.
Thanks. I'm having fun breaking this tiller down. Next I'm lubing up the tiller, the engine replacement is a snap, and assuming the clutch breaks free and the tranny is ok...I'm on easy street.
Thanks!

Never mind. The clutch is free. I put oil everywhere but the right spot. Anyone needing help I can assure you it's easy if you put oil in the right spot. The outside rim where the housing meets the inside stainless. The clutch glides now!
Also I can talk you thru it if needed. I've got a lot of good advice on here and believe in paybacks.
Thanks.

Cone clutch update on BCS 716. I beat up the clutch gear opening pretty good when trying to get it unstuck - use a vise and oil NOT a hammer. I ended up using a diamond bit on a rotary tool to grind down the mushroomed ends. The clutch attached to the drive gear fine afterward the fix.
I installed a new engine and it started up great but no power to the wheels or PTO.
The clutch cable was wayyyy too tight. The clutch never had a chance to engage. I adjusted the cable and slowly the clutch came to life....it was slipping and had to burn off all the wd40 I sprayed in it. After burning off the oil it pulled me dragged me like a rag doll.
See the great video from earth tools on YouTube on adjusting the bcs clutch.
Off to inspect the tiller... I bought this unit used. Anyone know if the tiller should be oiled or greased and how it's done?
