BCS Tiller Shear Bolt/Pin?

I have a BCS tiller for my 725 that I bought back in the early/mid 90's. Do they have a shear bolt/pin and if so where is it located? I dont see any mention of one in the owners manual. If there is one how is it sized or rated for shear? I have hit some pretty large rocks and so far no problems but would rather be prepared when and if it happens.

I have a 735 that I bought new in '87 and to my knowledge there is no shear bolts or pins anywhere on the machine. I have hit some pretty tough stuff with the tiller and if it gets hung up, it will either slip the clutch for a second and kill the motor or jump over whatever I hit. The only time I ever killed the engine was when I hit a 3' piece of 1/2" rebar and wrapped it around the tines, was fun getting that out.

I echo Milkman's comments. As far as I know, the BCS depends on the clutch slipping to protect the transmission and engine.

Ok thanks guys, kind of what I thought. Does anyone know where I can get an owners manual for my tiller? The one I got has gotten damp over the years and now all the pages have stuck together.

I was using an old Mainline tiller box on my 715 the other day, hit a tree root and found that it had a shear shaft They were only 3/4" on these old models.

I turned it into a vertical cultivator, works great.
