This is my beater truck/deer harvester.:D

It has a 20 foot ladder on it in this picture. I have also used it to haul the 16 foot 2 x 10 ceiling joists for my kitchen in a similar fashion.

It has been describes as a "chick magnet", but since I removed the front hub caps the last time I turned the front brake rotors with my 4 1/2" angle grinder and haven't taken the time to replace them is isn't as attractive as it used to be. I know...... I know......, that isn't they way you are supposed to do it but I did use a dial indicator to find the high spots:eek:

It is a 1995 Ford Escort. It has 217,000 miles on it. The last deer I harvested with it (it has taken 5 of them) popped both air bags so the insurance company totaled it. I had just put a new set of tires on it the week before at a cost of $300. I bought it back from the insurance company for $146, replaced both headlights, wired and glued the grill back in place (only lost one little part) and use it for all my rough duty running around, gravel roads and such.:D:D

It still gets 35-38 MPG and I don't have to worry about door dings or scratching the paint. I have hauled lawn mowers on the roof.:D

Oh I forgot to mention, the tach. doesn't work. When I start the car it goes to around 3200 rpm and stays there until I shut it off then it goes to around 9 grand.??? It has worked intermittently for about 5 minutes total in the last 10 years....

It has the origional exhaust system on it (stainless steel) it has had the plugs changed once, has had one timing belt, one coil and one set of spark plug wires. It is by far the most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. The air still blows cold without ever having been serviced and the cruise control still works. As far as I know it has the origional anti-freeze in it.

I know you all are just wantin to buy it,:p but it ain't for sale....:D:D:D

Yep, it was on CL before the the frame broke. I drove it off the trailer and back on again like that, it ran great. It's gone now.

"chick magnet"
I though I had the only one :D, last one 92 corolla 340,000 (35 mpg) wasn't the miles, but a deer that got that one. Current magnet, 96 honda at 198,000 (37 to 41mpg)

Here's "George" named after the depression era mechanic who taught me how keeping it running well when I was 20. It had been my logging rig and had seen many a back country road and skid trail when I was a faller. Didn't always look this good; I fixed it up about twenty years ago but not "too much" so I could still work him and not be afraid of scratches.

Kept it all these years but I'm 60 now and hardly drove it in the last 10 (but logged two properties with it and that old 6000# Warn winch) so I gave it to my nephew this summer who grew up with it when we lived on a farm in Oregon. He learned to drive with George and is now going to do the same with his son.

1963 Power Wagon (short bed!), 318cuin, 150000 orig miles probably, 40000 4wd miles. Rough ridin' beast and a quarter of a mile turning radius. Gonna miss ole George.

Nice! I particularly like the pics from cami, slaker and reddirt.

I have had some pretty rough vehicles (car mostly) but I don't have any pics to share. Love the look of the old trucks though, one day I'd love to have a restored one.

Reddirt, nice truck, nice story and nice ending!

Cowboy, nice trucks. Reminds me of the first hay truck a buddy of mine and I had in highschool. 1949 Chevy 1 1/2 ton, 6 cyl, 4spd, 2spd rear & flat bed. We got tired of others making "our" money so we thought we'd haul for ourselves and make some "real" money!:D Hauled a few thousand bales on her. Long hauls, 2-16yr old kids, rod through the block and a bullet hole in the drivers door did her in!:D During a clutch job my buddy got mad and shot her. Made him feel better at the time and sure was funny to both of us.....kids!:D
