Bed Liner Options

We use a kit called Raptor. Very nice stuff. I have found ebay to be the best price. Enough for a long bed truck and gun is right around $100.

I would never roll it. Spraying is very easy to do.

Chris

Found it on ebay.
Going to give it a shot on my new F150.
For $119 it's worth a try. Looks like a good rainy day project when I can't get out and hang gutters.

We have a 2006 F150 and had a 1999 which were both covered with Line-X 09/2006 and 09/1999 respectively. Great stuff (Line-X) which has worked well with many loads of everything in the world including rock, stone, steel etc.

Still holding up and can not see any medal. I would like to get it resprayed simply for looks, but not necessary.

I've got an 8' bed sprayed with rhino liner, The stuff is very grippy and stuff barely rolls around in my bed, i did manage to tear a small chunk when i dropped the full weight of my dirtbike on the top corner of my bed, so i chalk that up to my fault!

I have also had my lower quarter panels rhino lined and I love that stuff. I have heard that Line-X tends to peel up after a couple years and its a little bit more slippery, I'm wondering now though if its more of a per installer issue more than anything?

I also think that Rhino lining offers two different liner options. The Rubberized coating and a harder slicker coating.

Either way, lining your bed is the cats behind and the way to go IMO.

I've had a BedRug in my 1994 Chevy (without a cover) for over 15 years now and it has been the best bedliner I have ever owned. I've hauled everything imaginable and it still looks good. And best of all it has some "give" underneath so if you climb in the bed it's easier on your knees and legs!

I know that sounds like an ad for them, but I'm not tied to them in any way -- I'm just sharing my experience with the BedRug.

Looking for recommendations for lining the bed on our new F-150. We are currently leaning toward getting Line-X.

I was wondering of anyone has any reviews for the Line-X?
Are there other options we should consider?

LINE-X IMHO.Mine has held up great.coobie

I have LineX. Looks great. Its been in since 1999 or 2000. The truck is a 1996. I added a rubber mat just cause it was only $60 way back when... The only thing is the LineX will not protect against dents. I never did scratch mine. To do again I might just go with a plastic liner but than the rubber mat would be a neccessity. :2cents:

I know that there are a lot of fans of the spray in liners, and I think they have their place, but for how I use my truck, the drop in Penda Skid Resistor has worked very well. I carry heavy, odd shaped metal objects and rocks, blocks, etc. It minimizes sliding pretty well, and really withstands denting, which I like. Now, before anyone goes off on a tirade about how drop in liners scuff the paint off and cause rusting, I have never had a problem with this. I pull the liner before trade in, and the bed looks darn near new.

Same here...I've always had drop in liners with a rubber mat and never had a paint issue...I haul dirt, gravel mulch, car parts, lumber...Whatever.

My brother used the Rustoleum roll on stuff and it lookd great for the 8 years it was in there.

Had Line-X sprayed in my 2005 F250, and it held up great and still looked great 6 years later when I traded it in on my F150. Had the F150 sprayed at same place the week I got it, and 2 weeks later it started bubbling up in many spots. Took it back, they stripped it out and re-sprayed it. They said their old machine was "out of sync", and they bought a new one. 8 months later and it still looks good. I prefer the Line-X texture to the Rhino, but that's just a personal preference.

Also, have them remove the bed bolts and the equipment tie-down brackets before spraying. You can then later back out the bed bolts and spray them with flat black primer to keep them from rusting.

They'r kinda old school, but I've been moving my rubber "bed mat" from truck to truck since '94. It's one of the best $75 bucks or so I've ever spent!

I have had a bed matt in my last three trucks. I ordered my f-350 with the liner but i still like the matt on top of the liner.

the only drop-in bed liner I have had was one that came in a '95 Toyota 4x4 truck I drove for about 9 years. it started warping around the rails and got to where it wouldn't sit flat in the bed. sand, mud, trash, etc got under it over the years and when I finally took it out it was a mess! I had pretty good surface rust, nothing major though, but the bed was scratched all to heck as if I had never even had a liner in it. drop-ins have come a long way since then, and there are some good ones on the market today. I don't know who makes the drop-in liners for GM but they seem to hold up well, fit to the bed of the truck, and don't warp. out of owning drop-ins, rubber bed mats, and spray-in I've been the most satisfied with the Rhino and Line-x that I've had.

I've always done that too. That way stuff doesn't skid around on the plastic liner.
The Predator spray on kit is supposed to be delivered today. I'll take care of that some rainy day when I can't work outside. But I'll still have the bed mat on it after it cures for a week or so.
Had I known before, I might have looked into the BedTred that pixguy posted about.

The one benefit, which is it's detriment, of the plastic liners is the sliding action. Many a time I have put a heap of brush in the back of my 8ft bed, taken it to the dump, and yank on a few bottom branches and the whole thing slides out. The better plastic bed liners have more indents for one to put a wood plank or plastic gate to keep things from sliding. The real downside of plastic liners is that if they are installed poorly water gets in easily and can do a number on the metal bed....Gary

Well, the Raptor kit arrived. First coat is on, waiting to apply second. Pretty straightforward as advertised. Mix, shake, shoot. That's the easy part. It's the scuffing paint, removing dust and masking that sucks!
Use a well ventilated area and a respirator. This stuff has some strong fumes. I'm glad that it's June and I can at least open the garage door half way and open some windows. Also glad that I remembered a long unused respirator still sitting in the package in garage cupboard.

We always spray it outside. As you said the prep is 90% of the job.

I've got plastic liner with a mat in one truck, line-x in the other. It's line-x after this. A friend had his rhino peel on him.

Chris

I sure would have liked to do it outside but we had some showers on and off and a little breezy so I was concerned about overspray.
Time kinda limited this week so I had to squeeze it in when I could. I have to say that the thing doesn't look bad at all.
I bought the kit on your recommendation. I'm thinking that it should hold up fine for my use. Generally just boxes of downspout or a small skid with 300 or so pounds of aluminum gutter coil. There will also be a bed mat on top.
If it doesn't work out, oh well. I guess that I've spent more than $119 on other things that I shouldn't have.

They hold up quite well. I do not have it in my trucks, both have factory applied liners, but the ones I have helped do held up very well and look just as good as the others I have seen.
