Bed liner spray on foot rests

"The bed liner stuff should work much better. Hate to be slipping around with wet boots."

Nope, it isn't fun at all...that's one sharp edge on the side of the foot rest...got the bruise to prove it.

So, reckon it's time for me to hit Wally World (or an automotive store since I hate Wal-Mart).

Wow. I did not think this post would get that many responses! Looks like I gotta do it now. In the winter it gets kind of slippery on the metal. I normally try to step on the spots with holes to prevent slipping. I have not had a problem with rusting on out 970 which is worn down to bare metal but it really does not get exposed to water.

I saw that post and as soon as I got my lil' 990 I taped it out and sprayed it down with the bed liner . Works great but for the spot out side of the area that was marked off where I put my big feet /foot . /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif...will have to fix that at some point . /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
All in All a great idea and well worth it ...

Yepper, got it at Wally world, In the auto section. It's fairly cheep and holds up very well, foot rest and brake peddles look like the day I sprayed them, The clutch pedel could use a touch up but you have to figure it's the area my foot is alot.

I took the foot rest off and sprayed them, with the peddels I found that using a small box and cutting a slit in the bottom and pushing the peddles through worked great and didn't require all the tapping and covering to keep over spray off the tractor.

One more thing...I didn't do this being I was told about it after I was done. Someone said toss a little bit of sand on it while it's still wet.

For me it's worked well with no slipping right out of the can....but thought I would pass that along

I think the stuff is about the same as,what u can mix youself. you can buy little bags of fine sand made for floor painting, i did that to my basment floor years ago. After i used bed liner on foot rest (i thought)!. You could mix tractor paint with sand mix and color would be exact match no one would suspect it wasn't factory.Boy was that an after thought! I'm happy with the black though hides the dirt

Oh forgot to mention the sand mix i picked up at True Value hardware, should be any where the sell paint though. In case someone rather match the color

In 2000 with my 790 I took the foot rests off and cut out a simple foor mat for each rest but it just dulled the paint underneath from the dirt getting under there and the pad slipping around. I think the spray on bedliner will hold up much better and look 10x better too. Thanks for the idea!
