Bed Liners?

   / Bed Liners? #41
Some people seem to have a load-handler fetish, and bring that up as being a disadvantage. Then some people say they used a load-handler with one and it works just fine. I have a different concept; get both the spray in and a drop-in. The dropins are fairly cheap, and aren't exactly a precision fit so the extra space taken up by the spray-in won't be noticed. This gets you the slipperiness you desire, without the disadvantage of not being able to use the precious load-handler, assuming the original poster had any desire whatsoever to use one. ;)

Oh yeah, if you go to the load handler website, Loadhandler | Doubl-Mat Product Details they have a mat specifically for use with the load handler and a spray in bedliner.

Thanks Gemini. I have a Penda in the Silverado I have now and it is not slippery but I think I am going to try the spray on on the next truck. The next truck will be a 3500 HD Diesel and will tow a 29ft trailer. I like the warrantee of the Line-X but I have not looked very deep into the Ameraguard. It seems very much like the Line-X thus far. Thanks for the info.

I have the Rhino spray on. Bought the 97 dually that way last year. Seems to be extremely durable. I'm using it on the farm to haul just about everything and it doesn't seem to phase it. Any spray on is probably dependent upon the proficiency of the applicator. Good Luck

If you do plan to get a drop in liner, first go to a spray-on dealer and see what he's got behind the building. You might be able to get a drop-in cheap from the toss out pile.

Cliff (who had a drop-in in the last truck, but who has Line-X now and is happy with it.)

A drop in liner might not last until you get a new truck.

My Line-X liner is warranteed to last until I get a new truck regardless of how long that is

My 18 year old drop in liners seem to be holding up real good.

Chances are a drop in can't either because of changes to the bed design. When I went from my '97 Chevy to the '99 Silverado I couldn't reuse the toneau cover nor the drop in liner. I have made due with the rubber mat that I keep on top of the drop in liner though.

My drop in has been in the trucks since it was 2 days old. I had the truck at a body shop last year get the outside of the bed repainted. They had pulled the bed liner up in the center to get it away from the edges for painting. The paint is scuffed down to the primer, but no signs of rust or anything. Of course maybe the sliding cover helps keep most of the moisture out so that the rust isn't a problem. Now if I would to take the cover and/or the liner off, I have no doubt I would have to put some paint on it pretty quick.

my 5 year old one in my ranger when I traded it off was starting to take a beating. I am happy that yours seem to be holding up so well especially with the extreme use you put it to. I did not notice if you posted the brand name I am sure some people on here who want to use slide in liners would be interested in what brand it is.

Last May I got a spray in liner in my F 150. Made by Reflex, which seems to be a lot like a Rhino lining. The neat thing that they were able to do is get a color that matches my truck (dark copper). Have tried a lot of different things to beat up the liner but still looks like new. Cargo doesn't slide, but easy to load with lumber and what not. It doesn't seems to grab and stick like some liners do.
