Bees, gobs of bees

Still waiting for the beeman to call back. I am now seeing little wax droppings all over the ground. They are white so I know it's not dogdew or the equivalent of what bees put out. I think these characters are making a home, but it's right in my kids sandbox area. They gotta find another spot to reside.

P.S. spraying water on them doesn't do anything. I think they liked it.

Well looks to me like you have two choices if the guy who said he would ,doesn't. You can get a box with a top and go out at night and box them up and take them to a holler tree somewheres and remove the lid,if you do this remember to dress up the best you can for this and squirt them down gently with a bottle type sprayer/mister before shaking that limb,also they will sufficate if you don't cut some air slits in the box,take the box away that same night.Or you can get you some wasp and hornet spray and kill them. This is very rare! Most of the time they're gone in a day, two at the most.

Here's some bee biology that you need to think about.
When they swarmed from the old hive. they were loaded up with honey.
Fully bellies makes them very docile. We call them "wet swarms".
After a few days they start to use up that honey and you guessed it ...
they become "dry swarms". You can tell a dry swarm by looking for
comb. If you see a white honeycomb like structure, even a tiny bit, they are dry.
Dry swarms can get mean. I don't know your location but Africainzed bees
swarm too and they are very mean. If they are Africainzed and you shake the branch, You won't make it back to your house! You definately don't want any kids around them.

I really hate to say this being a bee lover and all but I agree with Richard, just spray them with raid. You gave them a chance. you called around, you did more than most people would have done.

Oh yeah right, dress up. I don't own enough clothes!. I just got off the phone with a lady whose father does it as a hobby and is looking for a school of bees for a box or something they have going on. This bee stuff is about as foreign to me as french. I'll leave touching these mini F16's to someone else. Go out at night and drop in a box, yeah right! hehehee, Rat...

Nature can be scarey to you city people,shoot them see ifin I care.One thing I WOULDN'T have,is a swarm of bees in my yard for I have a little girl too and I would hate to think I put her in danger by not taking care of a few meesaly insects,how many days have you been whining about this now? I was thinking of this thread when I squished a big spider in my house today. I laughed thinking of the guy who catches them and tosses them outside.... I squish them outside too.
These are bees. They can, do and will sting. You have no clue if they are africanized or not. WHACK EM!!!
I take great personal pleasure in killing bugs in my home that I find unwelcome for whatever reason. A primal urge that cleaned Western PA of all kinds of nasty stuff... Mountain Lions etc... In fact, I would never live in FLA because they seem to frown on whacking alligators. If I E V E R saw a gator in my yard, it would be fertilizer in seonds. There is no excuse for letting politically correctness cause harm to children. When I read of a gator eating a kid, I simply CANNOT understand why we just don't irradicate them from the USA. In the case of these bees, I figure they are a lot less dangerous than a gator (perhaps not, I think a lot of people die each year from bee stings), but a lot more dangerous than a branch with no bees on it.
Our freinds at DOW, Du Pont, and Ortho have labored for many years to provide you with a cheap, convienient, and quick remedy to this problem. If your kids (or someone elses) gets the hell stung out of them, don't even tell us about it.... It would just tick me off to no end.

By the way, if you decide to catch them in a box, try heavy boots and 3 or 4 layers of duck tape over the clothes. I have no idea if it would work, but if it does, what a great new use for duck tape!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If you don't know if they are African bees then I suggest you stop spraying them with anything. There are TV programs that show the devastation the African bees can do when attacked in this manner. I have also heard of hornets attacking a person that was blasting them with a garden hose at high pressure.

Ok Rogue please stop killing everything in the countryside. Those spiders make webs that trap bugs, that is good. The bees pollinate crops so we can eat, more good stuff. The snakes eat moles and mice and that is very good. The real politically correct folks got rid of cats and after the cats were history those folks got to die from plague.

Thanks Richard, I was only joking about the clothes and all. Bees do intimidate me somewhat because of the swelling and itch I get when I get stung by just one, I can't imagine having multiple stings. Sorry if you took my answer as being cynical to your response. I appreciate everyones responses. These are everyday, run of the mill honey bees that split from the many hives we have in this rural area. They should be gone today as a beekeeper will be picking them up. A woman and her father do this as a hobby. I am greatful they are willing to do it and at no cost. I'm happy not to have slaughtered the hive. This should pretty much end this thread, thanks again, Rat.
