Anyone have any experience witha Befco tiller? There is one at my local dealer that looks like it's been there for a few seasons... I was thinking about giving him a low-ball offer. This tiller seems to be made with Rotomec parts (they seem to be the same company, based on their websites...), and all of this dealer's newer stock is labeled as Rotomec.

Overview:
- The paint is a bit faded (no big deal)
- No slip clutch (any comments?)
- Side shift feature looks nifty (any comments?)
- Any comments on the Befco / Rotomec relationship?
- I'd ask for price comments, but I'm currently not even certain of the model or width (assuming it's either a T30 or T40, around 50") So, based on that assumption...???

Thanks,

Steve

I bought a Befco tiller last year that was on the lot for a little while. I can not remember the price or the model but I think it was around 55". Have only used it to till one small garden and it worked great. Plan on using it to till up a section of some of our pens for reseeding so I will have more hours on it later this spring. It is a decent unit for the money and when I find out what I paid I will let you know along with the model.

I rented one last year and tilled up about 6000 square feet for some sod. It worked great.

So I called the dealer to talk about his interest in selling this tiller. I think that I must of woken him up from a nap... not too friendly. It turns out that it is a Befco T30 @ 50" wide. He wants $2,100 CAD (around $1,300 USD). Any comments on that price?

He went on to tell me that the Befco is better than the Rotomec... I told him to look at their two websites and find a difference... any difference. Perhaps that is where the conversation started going downhill.

Nobleton Farm Service (JD dealer)... I'll avoid them like the plague.

I bought a used rotomec tiller. Befco and rotomec (TSC) were kind of interchangeable for a while. Befco redesigned the top end frame, but other than that all interchangeable parts. A slip clutch is available. This area a brand new Befco t30 runs around 1200.

Finally found the slip, it is a T50 and I paid $1950 for it with a slip clutch. Nice unit for what little I have used it so far.
